Abstract : This bibliography was compiled for the purpose of identifying and evaluating work performed to date in the area of planning for emergency water supplies in the event of major regional or National disasters. the bibliography evaluates the full spectrum of emergency water preparedness since Federal emergency water planning will rely heavily on a solid emergency planning base at the regional, state and local levels. All identifiable Federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to emergency water planning and assistance have been compiled and summarized. This work includes a critical assessment of present knowledge concerning the prediction of damages to water supply systems and the subsequent economic and social disruption caused by disasters. The annotated bibliography summarizes 133 studies of publications pertaining to emergency water planning. The bibliography also looks at the water supply impacts of the Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964, and, provides a list of supplies of equipment, materials, and services relevant to water system preparedness and recovery.
