Abstract : The position-time relation of the moving piston in the experimental gun (ERMA) can be calculated from the unsteady 1-dimensional isentropic theory with the use of the entropic equation of state of the gas. The ERMA experimental position-time data of a few argon runs were analyzed to obtain the pressure-density isentropes of argon. The calculated isentropes extended from room temperature and pressures between 300 and 800 atm to a temperture region of approximately -100 deg C and pressures about 80 atm. These calculated isentropes compared very well with the argon isentropic data which were known down to a temperature of 0 deg C.
