Abstract : A Monte Carlo code (MOPET) has been developed to simulate the flux transport and energy deposition of photons transmitted through multiple slab absorbers. Photon energies may range from 1 keV to 300 keV where a black body or monoenergetic incident source spectrum may be used. The slab absorbers may consist of as many as seven different slabs each of which may be composed of four elements. The elements may be chosen from 16 selected elements ranging from hydrogen to uranium. The program calculated the total flux, the total energy deposited, and to initial temperature as a function of penetration depth into the slab absorbers. It also determines the photon spectrum at the slab interfaces. These outputs may also be plotted through a plotting subroutine. An exponential absorption and transmission code (EXPET) for the same problem is presented in an appendix. (Author)
