Abstract : The patent describes the formation of a fluorinated polyol from the polymerization reaction of a diglycidyl ether with a fluorinated dihydroxy hydrocarbon. The polymerization may be carried out with a tertiary amine catalyst and with or without a polar solvent. The reaction may take place in-situ as a coating on a surface, or as an adhesive between laminates, or as a molding material within a mold. The product is useful in applications requiring the hydrophobic properties of fluorine in combination with the adhesive and molding properties of epoxy resins.
