Abstract : The patent describes a method for drying articles having a low heat tolerance, such as parachutes fabricated of synthetic fibers. A hermetically sealable chamber is heated to a predetermined temperature which the article can tolerate. The chamber is evacuated to create a vacuum therein for substantially reducing the boiling-point to any moisture in the article. The boiled-off moisture is exhausted to complete the drying cycle.
