Abstract : The patent describes a radar apparatus with directional discrimination and improved detection. A monostatic radar system has its transmitter and receiving antenna at the same location. Target motion toward or away from the radar is discovered by determining the direction of the doppler frequency shift imposed upon the reflected electromagnetic energy after impinging on a target. Directional capability is obtained by determining whether the doppler frequency shift is positive or negative and simultaneously there is also provided increased radar signal sensitivity.
