Abstract : The patent relates to a self-contained, telemetering, fixed small angle forward scatterance meter for furnishing real-time data on light scattering intensity. Collimated light from a laser is directed through the water, scattered light reaching a photosensitive surface which is offset from the axis of the laser beam a selected short distance. Variations in ambient temperature and laser intensity are compensated for by a reference photocell which is matched to the measuring cell. Data representative of light scattering is continuously telemetered and received and recorded at a remote location.
