Abstract : The patent concerns a two color detector capable of detecting and distinguishing between two different wavelength bands of electromagnetic radiation, one in the visible - 3 micrometer range and one in the 3 micrometer - 12 micrometer range. It comprises an amorphous film of Ge(1-y)(Pb(1-x)Snx))yTeh-z) wherin 0 = or < x = or < 1, 0 = or < y = or < 1,0 = or < z = or < 1, contacting a material which strongly absorbs radiation in the 3 micrometer - 12 micrometer wavelength range.
