Abstract : Normalizing and spray-quenching heat treatments followed by short and by extended tempering at various temperatures were carried out on Croloy 2-1/4 and on a number of modified experimental Cr-Mo steels in order to determine under which conditions they would develop a stipulated minimum yield strength of 80,000 psi and a minimum Charpy-Vee impact strength of 30 ft-lb at +10F in section thicknesses of 5 and 6 in.
