Abstract : Cylinders in various combinations were towed in the basin of the David Taylor Model Basin to determine possible relative positions in which hydrodynamic-induced vibrations might be reduced or eliminated. Tests were made with the following combinations of cylinders; two of the same size towed in tandem, a pair of cylinders of which the forward one was smaller and towed both dead ahead and slightly to one side of the rear cylinder, and a single cylinder with an adjustable cable towed ahead of it.
