Abstract : THE SPRING AND FALL REVERSAL OF PREVAILING STRATOSPHERIC ZONAL WIND DIRECTION DURING 1958 IS DESCRIBED AND COMPARED TO THE NORMAL PATTERN. THE MAIN FEATURE OF THE SPRING 1959 REVERSAL WAS ITS MUCH EARLIER ARRIVAL THAN IN THE NORMAL PATTERN OR IN 1957 OR 1958.
