Abstract : The steady flow is discussed of a slightly conducting, incompressible, inviscid fluid past a field obstacle in the presence of a very strong magnetic field perpendicular to the free stream. The obstacle is a finite insulator of general shape whose permeability is equal to that of the fluid. The following phases of the problem are treated: equations of steady motion and their limiting forms, solution of the limit equations, compressing the y-coordinate, the source solution and its properties, determination of the complete solution, the drag on an ellipsoid.
