Abstract : A new theory of the continuous dislocation is proposed by introducing the ideas that the stored energy of the continuous dislocation and the kinetic energy can be expressed by deformation tensors and their time derivatives as a natural extension of concepts in the classical theory of dislocations. The slip process in plastic deformation, Frank's network, and the propagation and vibration of dislocations are taken as ex-AMPLES DERIVED FROM A FEW FUNDAMENTAL EQUATIONS WHICH HAVE A CORRESPONDENCE TO Maxwell's equations.
