Abstract : A matrix with real elements is called powerpositive if a power of it is positive. It is shown that the most important properties of the characteristic roots of positive matrices also hold for power-positive matrices. In particular, the absolute greatest root of a power-positive matrix can be computed as exactly as needed without finding the characteristic equation. (Author)
