Abstract : A previously developed computational method is used to obtain the ratios of the gamma-radiation dose rates at given interior points of a light aircraft carrier to the dose rate 3.5 feet above the center of the Flight Deck which is assumed to be covered uniformly with Co-60. The results of the computations are compared with values determined by an experiment on the ship where the Flight Deck was uniformly contaminated with Co-60. The comparison is made for two portions of the ship which have different structural components. The results of the comparison show the computed values to be higher than the experimental values and generally within 28 percent in the relatively open portion of the ship and generally worse than 50 percent in the more heavily compartmentalized portion of the ship.
