Abstract : The knowledge of space and time variations of fmim, foEs, and foF2 during periods of intense polar ionospheric disturbances can be used to design an efficient and highly reliable highfrequency polar-middle latitude communication system. Ionospheric data for a September 1957 storm have been analyzed, proving the feasibility of a frequency link-switching technique. (Author)
