Abstract : Consideration was given to the experimental measurement of the quadrupole coupling constant (eQq sub zz in which e is the proton charge) and the asymmetry parameter (N) and their relation to the nature of the chemical binding in BI3. Comparison is also made with the corresponding parameters in the other boron trihalides.
