Abstract : OBSERVATIONS OF THE LUMINANCE OF THE SKY WITH AND WITHOUT POLAROIDS, USING THE VISUAL PHOTOMETER, WERE CARRIED OUT IN 1956 AND 1957 AT A MOUNTAIN OBSERVATORY (h equals 1450 m above sea level), at the Aksengerskiy Sovkhoz (h equals 500 m) in the vicinity of Alma Ata, and in the Libyan desert of Egypt (h equals 200 m). Measurements were also made along the solar almucantar. The solar radiation and luminance of the near-sun aureole were simultaneously measured using an aureole photometer with a selenium cell, at various zenith solar distances. (Author)
