Abstract : The application of the entropy production principle is discussed in terms of lnear irreversible thermodynamics. The description of these processes is based on a set of linear, master equations. The most important aspect of these equations (Fokker-Planck) is that they are first order differential equations in time and are asymmetric in character. Conclusions are presented for both internal and external systems.
