Abstract : The electromagnetic properties of a closed metallic shock tube are analyzed with the assumption that the electrical conductivity of the gas behind the moving shock is large enough to produce a strong reflection of the electromagnetic wave. The section of the shock tube limited by the moving shock wave behaves like a resonant cavity of variable length. The effects of the shock velocity upon the resonant conditions of the cavity are analyzed. (Author)
