Abstract : A comparative analysis is presented about several different types of molecular wave functions. The discussion is oriented towards the calculation of potential energy curves, that is, the electronic energy, over a wide range of internuclear separations and not only the small separations which are important in chem AD-264 181Div. 2, 25, 8U (TIPSP/TL) Uppsala U. Field stations were operated during the thunderstorm seasons. The station made records of magnetic field variations from lightning, up to a distance of 20 km. These were obtained by frame aerials in combination with aperiodic amplifiers and simultaneously recording cathode-ray oscillographs. The aim was to compare the oscillographic results with simultaneous daylight pictures of the lightning paths, which were obtained by a specially developed photographic device. The combined photographic and oscillographic method made it possible to decide if all multiple discharges in a lightning flash followed in the same or in different directions. (Author)
