Abstract : The three-point bending apparatus for obtaining stress-strain curves is nearly complete. This will measure Poisson's Ratio, Young's Modulus, modulus of rupture and toughness for each crystal. Small crystals of a solid solution of aluminum nitride and silicon carbide have been grown and a furnace for experimenting with the growth of massive crystals from the vapor phase is being built.
