Abstract : An extension is made of the Dilworth and Crawley theory of meet decompositions for compactly generated atomic lattices of a semimodular type. This research was extended to incl de the nonsemimodular case. A consequence of these results is the proposal of the following group theorem: if an operator group G is a direct product of groups each having a principal series, then any two direct decompositions of G have centrally isomorphic refinements.
