Abstract : The behavior of plane electromagnetic waves in ionized gaseous media is attributed to the dispersion caused by the oscillation of the free electrons and the dissipation caused by the collision of these electrons with neutral particles during their oscillations. Further, since plasma media normally encountered in practice is nonuniform and bounded, the effects of these properties upon the energy propagation are also considered. Both monochromatic and pulse signal transfer function of plasma media are studied. Finally, a method of approximation of a ge ral lectron density by multiple constant gradient slabs m tc ed at their i erfaces is suggested. (Author)
