Abstract : The parametric amplifier is studied beginning with several mechanical models and progressing to several parallel resonant electrical circuits. Two regenerative parametric amplifiers, the degenerate and the non-degenerate case, are analyzed by linear circuit theory and compared to the negative resistance amplifier. The Manley-Rowe energy equations are then derived by a simplified method. Finally, the degenerate case of the parametric amplifier is analyzed by the Mathieu Equation and on the analog computer.
