Abstract : Human factors are considered in the design and building of airport traffic control quarters. Based on an intensive field study of air traffic controller requirements and human limitations, it specifies over-all tower design and siting workspace layout, and console design for the tower cab n IFR room, and detailed co sideration of the human factors operati g in the working environment. The latter include specifications on seating, floor covering, acoustics, lighting, color (paint), air conditioning, living facilities, nd to brief consi eration of radia ion hazar s.
