Abstract : The groundwork for investigating the possibility of the control of gravitational fields in the neighborhood of a massive body is considered. The Einstein equations for the gravitational field are examined under the assumption that one knows an exact solution of those equations for a given momentumenergy tensor. The desired solution corresponding to the augmented momentumenergy tensor is assumed to be an augmentation of the metric Gravitational Field. This leads to an exact representation of the field equations of general relativity in a form for which each term is a tensor. The problem of superimposing a weak gravitational field on a known field is investigated, and solutions are obtained by means of an invariant Green's integral tensor. (Author)
