Abstract : A method is given for solving the problem of the stationary structure of the boundary layer of the atmosphere as a function of the state of thermal stability in its surface layer. Formulas are obtained to determine the vertical profiles of temperature, wind velocity, and the coefficient of turbulent diffusion throughout the boundary lyer, a determination according to the temperature gradient and the geostrophic wind velocity at the upper limits of the boundary layer and according to the known roughness of the underlying surface.
