Abstract : Microw ve radiation is propagated from an antenna located at the downstr am end of a shock tube and is par ially reflect d by the interface of the moving shock wave. The electromagne ic propertie of this shock wave, i.e., its velocity, electron density, etc., can be determined by an nalysis of the radiation field either behind or in front of the shock wave. The shock tube itself acts as a microwave cavity, which is coupled with the microwave transmission system. An analysis of the effects of the moving plasma on the distribution of electromagnetic field in the s ock tube is presented. In particul r, t e effects of the shock velocity and the coupling of the tube with the microwave system are determined. (Author)
