Abstract : Aspects of both natural and nuclear weapon radiations are presented. The interaction of these radiations with the upper atmosphere to produce various ionospheric phenomena is considered and the relevant features of ionization events caused by both nuclear weapon tests and solar-terrestri-AL PHENOMENA ARE SUMMARIZED. Potentially rewarding areas of geophysical research are described. Feasible geophysical experiments are suggested and analyzed with respect to the kinds, numbers, and accuracies of measurements that should and could be made as well as the amount of information that could be derived either under ideal circumstances or in the event of partial malfunction of equipment.
