Abstract : A procedure is presented for determining sets of frequencies which can be assigned to a communication network consisting of a communication center and several distinct distant sites. For this network, it is assumed that (1) the operation is full duplex, (2) the channel spacing may be non-uniform over the range of operation, and (3) the frequency bands within the range of operation do not overlap. Each set of frequencies determined by this procedure is free of interference due to spurious emissions and spurious responses. Further, each set of frequencies is required to be free of interference due to transmitter intermodulation. This procedure is explained in detail. The computer program for automating this frequency assignment process is given in complete detail through a fully annotated computer program listing in the language of the Burroughs Algebraic Compiler. A preliminary analysis of the problem of developing basic communication networks for equipments with overlapping frequency ranges is presented. (Author)
