Abstract : The generalized Hooke's law in cylindrical coordinates is simplified for spiralloy, because of its symmetric winding pattern. It is used in the derivation of the generalized plane strain solution to a closed spiralloy tube subjected to internal pressure. Two sets of equations are found; one set is applicable for compressible spiralloy and the other for incompressible spiralloy. The distinction is also described in terms of the moduli of elasticity and Poisson's ratios. (Author)
