Abstract : The results of a first attempt to predict the vibration response of a complex system coupled to a complex exciter through three (3) standard Navy 6E100 sound mounts are presented. In general, excellent agreement was obtained between the predicted response and the measured response of the complex system (91% correlation); but that for any particular predicted response the probable error (10 db standard error) was too great for practical value. An estimation of the probable causes for this error is discussed, as well as recommendations for continued tests in order to improve the precision of the method. (Author)
