Abstract : T E D IG AND DEV LOP EN OF N W AU OMATIC PRODUCTION ME O S WITH MORE FLEXIBLE AND MOBILE CONTROL SYSTEMS IS STUDIED. The production of ingle and low-quantity units--princip lly in the pro uc io of co plic e fl d hreedimensional parts (punches, turbine props, propeller screws, plane components, etc.)-- requires new methods. Nonreproducing digital tracking systems, in which the relative position of the tools and of the fabrica u it i det rmi by a progr m ritt i a pr termined code, served to introduce lathes under programmed control. The following goals are sought in systems of programmed control: (1) to automa e production to a maxi um degr e of fl ibili y, i ., o make it possible to perfor rapid set-up changes of lathes for a new job; to correct relatively rapidly machining programs, as well as to be able to introduce constructive changes in produc ion objectiv s; (2) o organize e c traliz d produc ion ( ot ece sarily within th fac ory) of machining programs, which may be readily uplicated and distribut d from the center to various factories. At the same time the programs may be stored in a ''library'' for future use. (Author)
