Abstract : The objective is to develop an optical image recording film capable of reuse through 10 cycles of expo ure, and able to resolve 100 lines/mm with speed equivalent to ASA10. Progress in improving the specularity of d formable photocapacitors by means of epoxy leveling layers is reported. These specular layers, although satisfying the requiremen for he interferom tric or p ase contr t readout of the deforma ions, egraded the photodielectric PD) effect in sin ered layers of CdSe:Cu. An alternate method of obtaining the specular layers by coating with a low temperature melting point glass is discussed. The results of surface tension and viscosity measurements on thermoplastics usable in the recording media are presented T HE Dow PS-2 plasticiz d with 276V2 h s satisfactory properties. Other techni ues ar discus ed. D for ation nd r dout experim nts are described. Studies of viscous flow in thermopla tic recording are also presented, indicating the desirability of obtaining thermoplastics wi h lo er viscosity above 80 C.
