Abstract : The heat capacity of Cu(HCO2)2.4H2O was measured between 10 and 100 K in a vacuum calorimeter. No pronounced anomalous peaks are observed near 16.8 K or 62 K, temperatures at which susceptibility maxima appear. A consistent explanation of these facts is provided by the assumption that most of the spin entropy is lost by shortrange ordering on cooling through a wide temperature region around 62 K so that the lower transition, while abrupt, is accompanied by a very small entropy change.
