Abstract : The theory of Peltier cooling with semiconductors has, up to this date, been dealt with in a limited manner. Equations expressing the stationary and transient behavior o Peltier cooling junctions have been used to determine the theoretical behavior of thermoelements subject to direct current as well as to pulses of varying shape, length, and frequency. These equations have established results which, although agreeing in some respects, are not always consistent with experimental evidence. It seems that where disagreements do arise, the reason is that not all conditions intervening in Peltier cooling have been consid r in these equations, conditions which are considered too important to be neglected. The exact solution of an equation which takes more factors into account and which expresses the stationary and transient behavior of Peltier cooling junction is presented. (Author)
