Abstract : A listening comprehension approach is proposed for teaching foreign languages in elementary schools (FLES), especially where qualified language instructors are not available. Programmed materials for listening comprehension in French are described. The organization of interstate committees or a national committee of experts to avoid duplication in the production of FLES material is recommended. (Author)
