Abstract : A clinical evaluation of the higher bur speed technic (air turbine) in the removal of impacted teeth was carried out on 100 mandibular third molar cases. Body fluid 17-hydroxycorticosteroid determinations were utilized as an objective measurement of patient response to stress induced by the two oral surgery technics. Findings indicated that, except for patient preference, neither procedure could be considered as the method of choice. The response of the patients to the two methods was virtually identical as indicated by both subjective and objective measurements. (Author)
