Abstract : The Radio Interference Guard (RIG) is a miniature low-pass attenuator, and its purpose, when used in an electrical circuit, is to reduce to a negligible level the radio frequency power transmitted in the attenuation band without appreciably attenuating dc and low frequency ac in the pass band. The purpose of the RIG device is to provide adequate protection for weapon electroexplosive devices against spurious energies induced in their associated circuits by electromagnetic and electrostatic fields. The RIG device is based on the idealized concept of enclosing the electrical load inside a continuous electromagnetic shield of suitable metal and thickness to provide adequate protection against all radio frequency and electrostatic fields.
