Abstract : The kinetics of recrystallization of polycrystalline Cu (99.999% purity) cold-rolled to 98% reduction were determined by means of an x-ray diffraction technique for the temperature range 80 to 170 C at atmospheric pressure and at 42 kilobars. High pressure is found to retard both the initiation and rate of recrystallization. The effect of high pressure on the Hall voltage of cerium has been determined. A study of the pressure-temperature characteristics of the transformation of the hexagonal phase, MoC(0.67), to the cubic phase, MoC(0.67+x) was completed. The role of C deficiency in the transformation was investigated. The results of a series of experiments designed to investigate pressurequenching in several different Fe-Ni alloys are reported. Thermodynamic data obtained at one atmosphere is used to correlate the high-pressure transitions in thallium and tin. (Author)
