Abstract : The attenuation properties of ceramic materials are studied over a range of frequency and temperature to attain information which can be utilized in the design of absorbers. The frequencies selected are: 100, 500, 1000, 3000, 8400 and 12,000 mc/sec. The temperatures selected are: room temperature, 500, 1000, 1500 and 2300 F. Three series of ceramic compositions were selected in order to deterine the effect of compoition, bulk density and several loss mechanisms. Thirty-five compositions were evaluated. The basic formula for computing loss tangent and dielectric constant over the range of low to high loss is derived and programmed to an IBM 650 computer. A discssion of the results along with the raw data and the calculated data is presented. (Author)
