Scrached and unscratched 0.100 in thick clad 2024-3 Al alloy specimens for mechanical properties, corrosion and fatigue tests were metal spray overcoated with 4043 AL ALLOY TO OBSERVE THE EFFECT OF METAL SPRAY COTINGS ON MATERIAL PROPETIES, AND THE MERIT OF THE OVERSPRAY FOR CRATCH DAMAGE REPAIR. Tests showed that metal sprayed overlays did not affect the mechanical properties or corrosion resistance of Clad 2024-T3 Al alloy sheet which contained scratches which were confined to the cladding layers. scratches in the clad ayers displayed an advese effect on fatigue life. Metal spay repaired scratches in clding layers of Clad 2024-t3 Al alloy did not dversely affect the fatigue life of the sheet mterial. (Author)
