Abstract : Methods are given for nondestructively inspecting rocket motor cases, nozzles, and motor-case insulation. The motor cases may be fabricated from steel, titanium, or glass-reinforced plastics and made by welding or wrapping processes. In some designs, the nozzle consists of tungsten inserts fitted in graphite heat-sink backup rings with a molybdenum sleeve shrunk over the graphite ring. The inside insulation is generally a rubber-base substance adhered to the motor case. (Author)
