Abstract : The load-deflection characteristics of Fab 264 (a multiple layered cloth impregnated with rubber, nominal thickness 15 by 64 in), were determined at room temperature and 0 F. The material behaves differently when rapidly loaded. Its indicated stiffness increased as the load rate increased judging from the increase in steapness of the fast loaded load-deflection curve. Comparing the curves obtained at room temperature to those obtained at 0 F, no significant difference could be noted for either the slow or fast loaded specimens. The room temperature curves for specimens 1 and 6 at a slow load rate are considered more representative than that obtained for specimen 2, since specimen 2 had been preloaded during set-up in the test machine. CONCLUSIONS: Empirical data are provided by this memorandum and no conclusions were intended. (Author)
