Abstract : An aviation attitude survey was administered to 1140 NROTC Midshipmen upon their arrival in the Naval Air Advanced Training Command for the NROTC aviation summer cruise of 1960. The same test was re-administered to the midshipmen at the conclusion of their cruise. The change in attitudes from the initial administration of the test to the last was used to determine the effectiveness of the summer cruise in influencing positiveATTITUDES TOWARDS AVIATION. In addition to the attitude survey, a questionnaire for evaluating the cruise was presented to the midshipmen at the end of their cruise. The results from the attitude surveys demonstrated that the experience of the cruise did effect a more favorable attitude towards aviation. The actual flight experience was rated as the most effective aspect of the cruise in the cruise evaluation questionnaire. (Author)
