Abstract : The Mark 15 Ordnance Locator has been developed to meet the specific requirements of the on-board junk search environment in Vietnam. This device is a rugged, portable unit weighting approximately 2 1/2 pounds that operates from batteries having sufficient capacity to provide 40 hours continuous operation. The unit is waterproof to depths greater than 30 feet, requires no field adjustments or maintenance other than battery replacement and is inexpensive enough ($264 per unit) to be considered semi-expendable equipment. It is expected that this locator will also find use in hut and tunnel searches, searches of rice paddies and swimmer ordnance location applications. (Author)
