Abstract : Procedures are described for the purification of streptokinase and human plasmin. Molecular weights of 42,600 for streptokinase and 88,800 for plasmin were determined from sedimentation and diffusion data. Equilibration of strep to kinase with plasmin produced an inhibition of caseinolytic activity and indicated a mole-mole interaction. The inhibitory activity was lost following acid treatment. These findings further support the concept of an interaction between human plasmin and streptokinase to form a com plex capable of converting plasminogen to plasmin. (Author)
