Abstract : The aerosol attenuation coefficient of direct radiation at an altitude of 3-5 km is practically equal to zero. At the same time, the aerosol optical thickness of the atmosphere above 6 km attains a considerable magnitude. Experimental values are given and their dependence on wavelength and atmospheric conditions is discussed. (Author)
