Abstract : Three stromal enzymes were submitted to extensive preliminary analysis. They were purine phosphorylase adenylkinase and adenosine triphosphatase. The identity of each was clearly established and certain peculiarities of each were investigated. It was of considerable interest that the red cell soluble fraction contains a nondialisible factor which stimulates the ATPase action of the stromal enzyme. There is also indication that the adenylkinase may be protected by a factor which is removed or inactivated by high salt concentration of the medium. Since the salt inactivates both the stromal and more soluble components it is less likely that the protein is eluted and more probable that it is denatured in situ. (Author)
